THÉO & SALOMÉ (2020)
Lorenzo Castore spent several weeks in symbiosis with Théo and Salomé, two young lovers aged eighteen met by the photographer during a walk on the Deauville seafront promenade. They live between Caen and Trouville. They are in love, their first love. Suddenly Corona virus and lock down broke in. Isolation does not mean much to them as long as they can be together. They are to each other the boundaries of their everyday, as young lovers do. During his residency, Lorenzo Castore spent every moment of the day with them, recounting their reality and, occasionally, that of their families, over a limited but absolute period of time. Théo and Salomé, at the centre of the project, are two 'normal, ordinary' young people, in the best sense of the word. They live their lives together and together they try to project themselves into a possible possible tomorrow. "I wanted to make a work that is open to the future, against cynicism and the lack of hope and perspective of many young people today. I want this peripheral normality to inspire potentials and dreams, by transforming the banal into the exceptional".
